This course will concentrate on the changes brought about by technological advances while teaching the fundamental skills essential for living and working in the electronic world such as: Microsoft Office software, using the Internet, electronic mail and fax machine transmission. Much emphasis will be placed on communicating globally with other students, individuals and professionals from all over the world through the Internet. In addition, all computer assigned projects will involve searching for information on the Internet to give students experience navigating the vast amount of resources available on the World Wide Web.



This course commences at a beginner level and approaches the use of computer applications at the intermediate level to continue to challenge students who are already computer literate with word processing, the Internet, and electronic mail skills. The course content expands their knowledge by introducing three additional types of computer applications: Spreadsheet management with Microsoft Excel, database management with Microsoft Excel and slide show presentations with Microsoft Power Point. Windows utility functions will also be incorporated to teach students file management and how to better organize their work.
