Multimedia is a project-based course teaching students how to integrate text, images, sound and video in order to convey a message. Students learn the types of multimedia applications available, how it has evolved over time and how it is used in education, business and recreation. This course provides a basic, hands-on introduction to the creation of video material for broadcast and other media video presentation (Internet, CD-ROM, DVD). Students will be expected to write scripts, prepare written plans, and make business-like presentations along with working as part of a professional production team. This course uses primarily digital equipment including the digital video cameras and the non-linear editing program Adobe Premiere. The course includes units on camera basics, composition, lighting, as well as how to get better quality audio using the sound recording programs Adobe Audition and Sonar.  Students also learn to use Macromedia Flash for animation and Adobe After Effects for special effects. Students work on a variety of video production activities including public service announcements, commercial advertisements, documentaries, movie trailers and other video assignments for school-wide audiences as well as community audiences .
