The computer work study program is an electronic learning model that combines instructor training and support, online learning with hands on tasks, software and hardware troubleshooting, and participation in a job setting, that teaches students to configure, build, and maintain computer networks. From basic to advanced networking skills, the program prepares students for lifelong opportunities in the real world. Students do everything from unpacking computers, configuring equipment for online use, maintaining the schools email post office, to setting up and running file and mail servers. It is a shift towards career-integrated academics that blends future workforce needs in a manner that delivers well-balanced graduates. To ensure that technology-rich and advanced networking skills are delivered, a personalized learning environment is required where only a few students are enrolled in the program each year. Students will be asked to interview for the work before being enrolled officially into the course. Most importantly, the partnerships and alliances that build this ecosystem between the computer department and computer work study students should enable young people to keep pace in a global economy that is evolving on Internet time.

One student may enroll in computer work study for two years with a maximum of 2 units of credit earned towards a five unit sequence. Students enrolled over two years also have the choice of taking the course as a pass fall their first year.
