The Cincy Alpine Club was formerly known as Ski Club. It is in its third decade of existence. It's purpose is to introduce and teach snow sports to students in grades 7 through 12. The name of the club changed in 2005 to reflect the overwhelming proportion of members who snowboard. Originally there was some debate about switching the name to Cincy Snowboard Club, but there are other snow sports options. With respect to options other than snowboarding, there is traditional skiing and ski boarding. Ski boarding is skiing on very short skis without poles and is gaining in popularity.

The club boards/skis every Wednesday night, January through February. We leave the school for Greek Peak at 3:30 and return at 9:45pm. Interscholastic winter sport athletes that wish to enjoy the alpine sports have the option to board/ski on Sunday afternoons under a new program. This avoids conflict with their school sports schedule during the week days. Group package rates reduce the cost for those who wish to learn to board or ski. Rentals of snowboards or skis can also be a part of the package deal. Lessons are included in the cost and are mandatory for beginners.

This is the second year of a “learn to ski/board” program which will make learning fun and provide prizes as students excel at learning stations. It is known as “Activities Based Training” (ABT). This consists of stations set-up on the trails for each student’s level to challenge them to move on to the next level of proficiency. The idea is to increase the enjoyment of the learning process and enhance the experience of the alpine sport. The ABT system was created in Vermont and has been perfected over several years, then adopted by Greek Peak last season. Our annual meeting is held the third week in September each year. Payment deadlines include an early discount date in October and a final deadline date in early December.
