Welcome to the Cincinnatus Central Middle School. Our school works collaboratively with the elementary and high schools to share facilities and staff to promote excellence in academic and character development. We are a school that recognizes the importance of addressing the needs of our approximately 250 students in grades five through eight. Because this Middle School is part of a community concerned about the welfare of its children, we accept the challenge and responsibility to work with parents, relatives, friends and community members at large to develop our young people to become positive, productive members of society. The partnerships we develop with each of these groups will only enhance our children’s opportunities for the future.
Also recognizing the important role of education in middle level children’s lives, the State Education Department has established seven essential elements to reflect the research they have conducted regarding middle-level education and best practice. These seven essential elements of standards-focused middle-level school programs are:

1. A Philosophy and Mission that reflect the intellectual and developmental needs and characteristics of young adolescents.
2. An Educational Program that is comprehensive, challenging, purposeful, integrated, and standards-based.
3. An Organization and Structure that support both academic excellence and personal development.
4. Classroom Instruction appropriate to the needs and characteristics of young adolescents provided by skilled and knowledgeable teachers.
5. Strong Educational Leadership and a building administration that encourages, facilitates, and sustains involvement, participation, and partnerships.
6. A Network of Academic and Personal Support available for students.
7. Professional Training and Staff Development that are ongoing, purposeful, and collaboratively planned.

We encourage your support of our children. There are many opportunities for parents, family members and others to be involved in the educational process of our young people. There are several sporting events, concerts and other programs to attend. Additionally, there are Parent-Teacher Organization and Shared Decision Making Committee meetings that occur monthly. Please call 863-3200 to inquire about any of these activities.
