Phasing Plan
As of December 3, 2007, the Board of
Education approved a resolution accepting bids and awarding contracts
for the capital project construction. The contractors are now in the
process of reviewing all specifications and contracts prepared by the
district and will shortly submit those contracts for district
signature. Once the contracts are signed, the work on the
long-anticipated project will begin. We are hopeful that you will begin
to see work in progress on or about December 10th. The
building principals will be sending home notices concerning the new
school bus and visitor drop off and pick up procedures, which will be
required due to construction of the new mechanical room and cafeteria
expansion.
The district enthusiastically shares the
following update with regard to our capital project as follows:
·
Work at the new
transportation facility on Rte. 26 has begun in earnest with the
clearing of trees and shrubs,
·
The new foyer (K addition)
area, which will be utilized for the new bus loop in the back of the
school, has started with concrete poured for the structure’s
foundation. This foyer will be used as the new student drop off and
departure point for students who are bused to and from school
·
The cafeteria expansion and
new mechanical room addition (J wing) continues, which will also include
work to tie the existing cafeteria into an expanded Wilbur Auditorium
foyer,
·
The new storm drainage
system was started in the rear of the building on the outside of the
athletic fields. Eventually, this system will tie into the
comprehensive system to correct our current drainage system woes,
·
Several of our indoor
bathrooms due for renovations have begun and are now off limits until
fully restored (to include handicapped accessible toilets and fixtures),
and
·
New electric service ground
runs for our mechanical room will soon begin. This work will be visibly
evident by ditches dug in the Visitor Center parking lot during the
February break.
The
district is heavily involved in construction team planning sessions to
work out details concerning the massive amount of construction which
will occur at the end of this school year and into this summer. Further
information about those items will be included in this space in the near
future. Until then, we are excited as we now are able to realize and
witness the long-awaited, and much needed construction project
underway.
